Graham Crackers: Nutritional Values

As you can see, Graham Crackers are not the best treat for your pet. But, we still have to explain the nutritional value. In the lack of a better word, this should help you understand the topic even better.

  • Wheat

The crackers we have here contain a lot of wheat. This also means that they have gluten. Some dogs can eat food that consists of these two and they will never have a problem. Others can’t. They must avoid food with gluten. In some cases, you may have to choose a special food just to eliminate the gas problem your pet has. In a nutshell, food that is high in gluten and wheat is not ideal for dogs.

  • Carbohydrates

Graham Crackers have tons of carbohydrates that come from sugar. These are bad and they can make your dog obese in no time. Carbs that come from natural ingredients are better. Dogs can’t process food with high levels of carbs of this kind safely!

  • Sugar

Yes, Graham Crackers are high in sugar. This ingredient can cause all of the issues and problems you can see above. Some dogs are more sensitive than others. We can add that dogs can tolerate and process a small amount of sugar in their diet. But, a large amount is a huge problem and something they will have to avoid.

Using Graham Crackers As Treats When Training Your Dog

After all, Graham Crackers are treats so many of you are wondering the same thing. Can I use these when training my dog, as treats? The answer is yes and no. Yes, you can use them occasionally and your pet will be fine. But, using them all the time when training a dog is not possible.

The Smart Dog Parent Bundle

Ideally, you will use these crackers as an addition to healthy treats for dogs. They can replace a treat or two but nothing more. If you use them all the time, your pet will be at risk. He can develop all the problems from the above and you can know what that means. Add the fact that most owners use too many treats when training a dog and you can see the problem here. Keep in mind that health treats are the best training treat!

The Final Word

Treats are hard to define and explain. As you can see here. Can dogs have Graham Crackers? They can but in small amounts. If your pet eats too much of these, all sorts of issues can present which is not something you want. Consider this treat as something special and something you can use rarely. They must not be a huge part of the diet or as the main training treat.
