Do you know how to boil chicken for dogs? There is something special when you prepare meals for your pet. It is a simple, amazing feeling and it is beneficial for your pet as well. How to boil chicken for dogs is one of the questions you may have. Well, it is simple and actually easier than you can imagine but also a great experience. Below we are going to guide you through the process.

How To Boil Chicken For Dogs Like A PRO

Things you will need and steps you should follow

Today you are going to learn how to boil chicken for dogs in the best way possible. You need basic things and you need a few minutes of your time. Chicken is healthy for dogs and it is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. As such it can be the perfect meal. Anyway, you are going to need:

  • 3 chicken breasts (without skin and bones)
  • A large pot
  • Water

You can add more chicken breasts if you like but there is no need. It is best to make him a fresh meal more often than one rarely. Once you have all the ingredients you can start with the steps.

1. Place the meat in the pot

Well, it is obvious. You will have to place all 3 pieces in the pot. Just make sure that each one has full contact with the pot and they are not layered. This will make the meat boil much better and easier. Another thing to keep in mind is that the meat must be unfrozen completely. When it is frozen it will not boil properly or evenly. You will end up with a meal your dog will eat but won’t be very happy about it.

2. Add water

Now you can add water. The goal is to add the right amount of water to cover the meat but not too much or it will ‘’escape’’ from the pot later. Leave 2 inches of space to the top and you will be fine. It is important to add that you must not add seasoning, spices, or anything similar. For instance, garlic is toxic to dogs so you must avoid it. It is best to leave things simple and straightforward.

3. Boil is for 12 minutes

You need to boil the meat for 12 minutes. After 12 minutes you can pull out one piece of meat and cut it in half. If it is still red or looks uncooked, return it to the pot and cook it for an additional 1-2 minutes. Always boil the meat at a high temperature. It is the fastest and the best option.

4. Shred the meat

Pull the meat out from the pot and use 2 forks to shred it into small pieces. You will use one fork and hold the meat while you will use another to pull small pieces. This is an excellent way. You can also use a fork and a knife if you like. Smaller dogs need smaller pieces so take your time with it.

5. Let it cool

The meat will need 10-15 minutes to cool down. If you are in a hurry you can place it in a fridge. There it will need only 5 minutes to cool down. When it is safe to touch you can feed your dog or give him a small amount as a treat.

6. Store it in a fridge

You can keep this meat in your refrigerator for 3-4 days and feed your pet. But, you can also freeze the meat and store it for up to 6 months. It is up to you. Some dog owners like feeding only fresh meals to their dogs hence you may want to prepare this meal more often and not freeze it.

Feeding your dog

Once you have prepared a great meal for your pet you will have to feed him with it. There are a lot of options here so we have decided to cover all of them. Yes, you can give the complete meal to the dog right now but this is not something you can do. It is much better to do it slowly and to take a look at these facts below.

  • It can be given as a treat or as a meal

The best part about this meal is the fact you can use it as a treat. For instance, when your dog obeys you, you will give him one piece. If you want to give him this food as a complete meal, you should make a portion that is suitable for the size of your dog. Yes, larger dogs need more meat.

  • Add dog food

Dog food is loaded with protein and it is extremely beneficial. But, you can add it to the chicken meat here and make a delicious meal. Keep in mind that you must use a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio when mixing these two. Less chicken meat and more dog food will be an ideal amount. In most cases, you can use 170 grams of dog food and around 32 grams of chicken meat. This mixture is very delicious and all dogs love it. You can make as much of it as you like just try to keep it fresh.

  • Add white rice

You can also add white rice to the chicken meat. You will have to add 2 cups of cooked rice and one cup of chicken meat. Keep in mind that you can also add chicken broth to the equation. Here we must add that you should not use chicken broth from your local grocery store. These may contain onions or other ingredients that are dangerous to dogs and therefore must be avoided. Chicken broth should be added to rice when cooked. It will make the entire meal more delicious and all dogs love it. This meal is ideal when your pet has an upset stomach.

  • You can add yogurt or canned pumpkin as well

Yes, you can even add yogurt or canned pumpkin to the chicken meat. These are ideal if you want to help your pet with his digestive system. Pumpkin is loaded with fiber while yogurt acts as a probiotic. As the end result, you can see your dog being completely happy and also solve any issues with his stomach he had.

Dogs who have digestive tract issues can eat this meal 1-2 times per week. Do not feed your pet more often because it is a strong meal and can have a negative effect on the digestive system of your pet. If you have a dog that doesn’t have any problems of this kind you can feed him with this meal more often. Of course, it is important to add that you must not use this as a complete diet for your pet.

Feeding dog with chicken meat: Benefits your dog will get

  • It is the best mea

Chicken meat is the best type of meat for your dog. It is easy to digest and is loaded with nutrients and minerals. Also, it is affordable and easy to find in any store. It is delicious as well so most dogs love it.

  • Organ meat is loaded with nutrients

Believe it or not, it can make 20% of the total diet of your pet. It may sound unappealing to you but this is something you should consider and there are a lot of happy dog owners who have been using this meat source for years.

While chicken meat is great for all dogs and can be the best meal he will have, there are some things you will have to avoid at all costs. The first one is to avoid feeding your pet with raw chicken meat. It can contain salmonella and other bacteria that can cause a huge problem for your pet. Never feed raw chicken to your dog. It is mandatory and the most important thing to know here.

The second thing to keep in mind is that chicken meat must not have bones. As you were able to see we mentioned boneless chicken meat countless times here. Bones can choke your dog or clog his digestive tract. Chicken has a lot of small bones that must be removed as well. It is mandatory to remove all of these before you start preparing the meal.

The next thing is to avoid overfeeding your pet with chicken meat.

Yes, it is delicious and loaded with nutrients but cannot make a complete diet of a pet.

Feed him 1-3 times per week. That would be a sufficient number to help him get all the healthy nutrients but he won’t eat too much meat.

Always feed your dog with fresh meat. There are a lot of benefits here. It is more delicious, it is loaded with all the nutrients and minerals needed and it is safer. Feeding your pet with old chicken meat is risky and not something you will want to do.

Always make small pieces of meat before you feed your dog with this. Smaller dog breeds need smaller pieces while large dogs need bigger parts. We have explained to you how to make ideal [pieces for most dogs above and you can use this for all the dogs. Large pieces can choke your pet if he enjoys too much food and they are harder to digest.

There are no other things you have to worry about. As you can see these are simple guidelines to follow and most of them are obvious. Chicken meat is still an ideal option for all dogs.
