This dog breed existed in the UK in the 18th century. After that, this breed underwent significant changes, and the breeders have created new species. The new species made from White terrier are the Fox terrier, Boston terrier, and Jack Russell terrier. All these breeds are dominant and have huge existence in the US and UK.
Unfortunately, the original species wasn’t able to sustain public interest. Therefore, it does not exist in the world. After three decades of its creation, the English terrier has now become extinct.
2. Salish Wool Dog
As the name indicates, these dogs were characterized by their small nature and woolly fur. Today, people know them as British Columbia. People of Washington State and British Columbia had created this dog breed.
At that time, sheep were not available, so people use their coats to wear textiles and blankets. The wears look great because the dog’s fur was thick.
3. Moscow Water Dog
The Russian army had developed them to use them as water rescuers. These dogs have an aggressive temperament, and they were present after the Second World War. They were famous for biting the sailors instead of ensuring their safety. These dogs have become extinct, and they haven’t been seen since 1980.
4. Tweed Water Spaniel
These brown-colored dogs were athletic, and they were originated in England. Since they were located around the river, so they were famous as water dogs. Unfortunately, they became extinct in the 19th century.
5. Molossus Dogs
They were pretty popular dog breeds during Ancient Greece. You can check their popularity as many famous writers have mentioned them in their writings, such as Aristotle, Horace, Lucan, and Virgil. Moreover, people had used them for hunting, fighting, and protecting livestock.
6. Thylacine
This dog breed existed in Ancient Greek. These nocturnal dogs were shy and had similarities with other animals. The stripes on their lower back are similar to tiger, candid features like a wolf, and abdominal pouches similar to a kangaroo. Due to these similarities, they didn’t look like dogs and became extinct.
7. St. John’s Water Dog
Its origin was dating back to the 16th century. It was the antecedent of Labrador and Golden retrievers. Today, they’re known as Newfoundland. It came into existence as a result of crossbreeding of Tweed water spaniel. More importantly, it has a strong contribution to the creation of modern Golden Retriever dog species.
8. Brazilian Tracker
This dog breed had the shortest existence in the world. The Brazilian Kennel Club recognized it in 1967, and it becomes extinct only after 6 years. The main reason was the disease outbreak as a result of an overdose of insecticides. This dog breed was similar to American Coonhound in terms of hunting ability.
9. Blue Paul Terrier
It has many names, such as Blue Poll and Scottish Bull Terrier. Their origin was Scotland, and they were the descendent of a terrier and bulldog. It came into existence as a result of crossbreeding of different small dog breeds. In the mid 19th century, it was the most popular dog breed, and unfortunately, it became extinct in the early 20th century.
