Everything You Should Know About Boxer.

Boxers: Overview

As we have mentioned earlier, they are a very popular dog breed. They are commonly rated as one of the top 10 most common dogs.

A male will reach 25 inches in height while females will reach 23.5 inches. The weight of a male is usually between 65 and 80 pounds. Female dogs will reach 15 pounds less. These dogs live between 10 and 12 years. Boxers are gracious dogs that move like athletes. They look scary and their muscles are huge.

Great things about Boxers

If you want to train your boxer, you can do it easily. They are highly intelligent which means they are easy to train. You can hire a professional to do this or you can do it all by yourself. It is more than just possible. Keep in mind that they should be trained as young, obviously and you need to teach your new pet basic commands.

This is your new protector. Boxers are well-known for protecting their owners and this is one of the main reasons why they are so popular. They will do almost anything to keep you safe at all times. Add the fact they are strong, agile and they look serious and you can deduce that this is a serious protector that will keep you safe, period.

We can add that they also love spending time with you and your family. They will be perfectly happy, they will enjoy spending time with you and they will be happy while doing so.

Shedding isn’t a big deal for boxers. They shed in moderation. Of course, there will be a few hairs on your couch or floor, but there won’t be huge amounts of fur that you cannot remove. Maintenance is simple. They need occasional grooming and that’s it. There is no need for expensive trimming, maintenance in general, or anything similar.

Boxers look great. They are elegant and also beautiful dogs that move like athletes. This makes them extremely beautiful which is one of the most common reasons why this dog breed is so popular today and why there are millions who love them.

If you are a dog owner that also loves to run and be physically active, don’t look further. Boxers are the best choice, period. They have a lot of energy and they can run all day with you. Walking, running, or just playing with your pet is simple, easy, and very appealing.

We also liked the fact they are a bit like clowns and you will laugh while playing. They always make some weird expression or do something similar.

Some of you may believe that boxers do not get along with other animals or even people. This is a common myth. In reality, they are great friends with other pets and people. They will enjoy and have a great time when new people come to visit you and bring their pets.

Not so great things about boxers

Boxers do come with a few drawbacks. All dogs have cons so this breed isn’t different. The first one is separation anxiety. They suffer from it. Although this cannot be said for all individuals, most of them will suffer at some point, if you leave them alone at home.

This is a dog breed that loves spending time with you and you should try to provide that.

When a boxer eats, food gets all around the bowl. They are very sloppy in this case scenario. You will have to clean regularly or better said after each meal. Try using a mat all around the bowl that can help you collect the excess food in no time. Even then, be prepared to clean the area where he eats more frequently.

If you have a backyard, you can expect holes. Boxers love to dig and they will likely dig a new hole at least once per week. Instead of considering this a complete drawback, you should be smarter. You need to understand that your dog is digging holes because he is bored.

It means he needs more activity and you should spend more time with him.

Boxers have the face and nose that have been known for causing some issues. They cannot breathe well so they can overheat. If you want to train with your dog when the temperature is high, don’t. If this happens, give your pet a bath and try to help him remove the excess heat.

Try to play with him in the early morning or evening when the temperature is lower. Other health issues known to affect this dog breed are heart diseases and cancer.

This dog breed likes to chew and they do not care what they chew. Your expensive shoes, a smartphone, or anything similar can be targeted. However, they usually chew when they are young. Once they are adults, this issue can be significantly decreased or completely eliminated.

We did mention that boxers get along well with other pets and people. This is the truth. But, they agree well only if they are socialized when small. If they are not socialized, then they can become aggressive towards other pets. Towards humans, possible but rarely.

The final word

By now you You Should Know Everything About Boxer. A boxer is a popular dog breed due to a reason. They love their owners, they look great and they are easy to train. They are protective as well so you will have your friend who can protect you at the same time. In general, there are no major issues with this dog breed so you should consider one.

They are not great when it comes to manners, but they have all other boxes checked.
