Most if not all of you know that a new dog needs time to start liking you. You also know that there are a lot of things you can do to make this process faster and more effective. Well, we are going to discuss these things below. These are simple and effective options you can use starting today. Although they are ideal when you get a new dog, you can use these on dogs who have been with you for some time as well. In the second case, we can see that a dog will like you even more.

6 Ways To Get A Dog To Like You

1. Give Him Plenty Of Time

Here we have one interesting fact and one common mistake. How to get a dog to like you in 24 hours or 2 days? This is a common question some of you will ask and find an ‘’answer’’ online. In reality, there is no real answer. This is just not possible. Dogs are not toys or robots. They need time to form a relationship with you. Some dogs may need weeks while others will need months or even years.

In a nutshell, your pet needs time to start liking you. You cannot force him to do this. The best comparison is you. You cannot like a person and have a great relationship with her within a few days. Dogs usually need even more time to start trusting and feeling something about a person.

2. Food and Treats

Yes, dogs love to eat. They love all kinds of treats as well. What this means is that you must feed your dog and give him treats. But, you can also use this to your advantage. A dog will trust you and he will like you because you feed him every single day.

Now, use high-quality food that is safe and beneficial for a dog breed you have. Use treats that are safe and your pet likes. Do not use chocolate or candies. These are not safe for dogs. Fruits and veggies are the best options for treats.

3. Allow Him To Sleep In Your Bedroom

This is not mandatory action. In fact, many owners don’t want their dogs to sleep in the bedroom or in the same bed. But, it can speed things up, use a bit. Dogs feel secure and happy when they are with the owner. Now when he can spend the entire night in the same room with you, he will start feeling better about you sooner. This also tells your dog that he is family.

Yes, you can also allow him to sleep in your bed. This will be even more beneficial. More time you two spend together, the better results you can expect.

4. He Needs His Own Space

If you get a new dog and you are all over him for days, it may be an issue. Your pet needs his own space and he needs time to enjoy himself. You need to be there when he needs you but don’t be an obstacle. By using this simple tip you can see that a dog will like you more and appreciate you as well.

On the other hand if you want to play with your dog all the time and don’t allow him time to be with himself, he may see you as an annoying person. This means he will like you a bit less or he may need more time to start to like you. Treat your dog as a person and not an ordinary animal.

The best thing you can do here is to give him a crate. He can sleep there and spend as much time as he wants. He can also enjoy the comfort and the safety. It is more beneficial than you may believe.

5. Have Fun Together

Dogs love to play. Many of you love to play as well. But, playing with your dog is more beneficial than some people claim. First of all, you will spend more time together doing something you both love. If and when a dog is happy he will like you, period. Playing outside is probably the best thing you can do. It is beneficial, nice and enjoyable.

Dogs love to spend time outside and how when you are providing this to him, you can be someone he can like. Of course, there are a lot of other things you can do together. Walking is great. Watching a movie together can be ideal sometimes. Basically, all actions that are fun for your pet are a great choice.

Another benefit of having fun when playing or walking is physical activity. Dogs need this more than anything. Physical activity will keep your dog happy and healthy. Your pet won’t get obese. He can meet other dogs while playing. You can teach him new tricks. These are all some of the benefits here and each one is important. Without having fun with your dog, he will like you but he will need a lot more time to realize that.

6. Protect Your Pet

This is especially important when you get a new dog. It is also important if you didn’t use this tip with your old dog. A dog will see you as an alpha (if you act like one) and he will want to protect you. If he is in danger, you need to act. If there is a new person and your dog doesn’t like him, you need to act. All we can say is that you must make sure your dog is happy and satisfied and protect him from all threats. It may sound obvious or contradictory but it is the real fact.

The Final Word

How to get a dog to like you more than anything else? Like, love, and trust your dog. Use these tips as well and you will see the result. The bottom line is simple. If you are there for your pet and he knows you like him, he will return the favor. This does take time and effort so make sure you have these two.
